Upselling Agency Add-On Services

An add-on service - more budget, CRO, a new channel - can be pitched or proven. Instead of claiming where the extra effort pays off, you show on the model the funnel lever with the biggest effect. A sales pitch becomes a traceable recommendation.

Why the plain sales pitch is weaker

A pitch from the agency sounds like self-interest

"You should invest more in CRO" always also sounds like self-interest coming from the agency - and the client hears exactly that. A suggestion without proof can neither be tested nor told apart from a plain revenue grab. So every upsell starts with a trust problem.

What the model changes

The model solves it by making the bottleneck visible. Not "invest more", but "this is exactly where it's stuck, and an improvement of X yields Y" - an argument the client can recompute instead of having to believe it.

How the defensible recommendation works

  1. Map the current state. Bring the client's current scenario into the model - channels, budgets, the known funnel rates.
  2. Find the bottleneck. Check where the biggest loss sits in the funnel: click rate, click-to-lead rate, lead-to-conversion rate or CLV.
  3. Simulate the effect. Improve the relevant lever realistically and show what it means for the result and the economics.
  4. Prioritize the lever. Compare several levers and single out the one with the biggest effect per effort - not the one with the biggest agency fee.
  5. Draft the report. Optionally use the AI function (BYOK) to cast the recommendation into a client report - based on the deterministically computed numbers.

Talking points for the conversation

  • "Not more budget - this one lever." Moves the conversation away from cost toward effect.
  • Show the sensitivity: why a small improvement in the right place beats a lot of budget in the wrong one.
  • Tie the add-on service to the bottleneck, not to the agency's revenue - that makes the suggestion credible.
  • Put two levers side by side and let the client choose - consulting instead of selling.

Common thinking traps

  • Choosing the lever by agency revenue. Whoever prioritizes the lever that brings the highest fee instead of the biggest client benefit turns the tool into exactly the sales trick it was meant to avoid - and the client notices sooner or later.
  • Selling sensitivity as a guarantee. The model shows the relative effect of levers, not an assured outcome. "+10% conversion yields X on paper" is a simulation, not a promise.
  • Taking the AI report at face value. The AI function phrases what the model computes - it is not a second calculator. The reliable part is the deterministic number, not the wording around it.

Frequently asked questions about upselling on the model

Why not just suggest the add-on service?

A suggestion without proof looks like the agency's interest in revenue. Instead, the model shows the concrete bottleneck in the funnel and what improving it yields - a claim becomes a traceable reason.

How do I know which lever has the biggest effect?

Through a sensitivity view: you change each lever - click rate, conversion or CLV, say - by the same small amount and compare the effect on the result. The lever with the strongest swing is the candidate.

What role does the AI function play here?

The optional AI function (with your own API key) drafts the report - it puts the recommendation into words. The calculation itself stays deterministic; the AI invents no numbers and does not replace the check.

Isn't this just a sales trick?

Only if you pick the lever by your own revenue. Applied honestly, you prioritize the lever with the biggest benefit for the client - then the upsell is the consequence of a good analysis, not its purpose.

Does the client need their own data for this?

The client's actual figures sharpen the statement. If they aren't available yet, the model gives a benchmark-based direction - which refines as soon as real numbers flow in.
